What Is a Multi Storey Steel Building?

A multi storey steel building is a building with two or more floors, held up by a steel frame. The frame is made of steel columns (upright) and beams (sideways). It carries the weight of the floors, people, machines and wind. The steel parts are made in a factory, then brought to your site and bolted together. Floors are usually made with a steel sheet and concrete on top. Walls and roof can be insulated panels, metal sheets, brick, block or glass.

Every part is designed on a computer first, so each beam fits the load it has to carry. This is why these are also called pre engineered multi storey buildings or PEB multi storey buildings.

You may also see the names multi level steel buildings, steel-framed buildings and multi storey metal buildings. They all mean the same thing: a building with many floors and a steel frame.

STEEL VS RCC

Why Choose Multi Storey Steel Buildings Over RCC?

Many owners ask this before they call any manufacturer. Here is a fair, simple comparison.

Construction time

Faster, because foundation and fabrication run together

Slower, needs shuttering and curing on every floor

Column size

Slim columns, more usable floor area

Thick columns take up space

Weight of building

Much lighter, so foundations can be smaller

Heavy, needs bigger foundations

Quality control

Made in a factory with inspection

Depends on site workmanship and weather

Long spans

Column-free spans are easier

Needs deep beams or extra columns

Future expansion

Adding a floor or a bay is easier

Difficult and costly

Site waste, dust and noise

Low

High

End of life

Steel can be recycled

Concrete is mostly dumped

APPLICATIONS

Where Multi Storey Steel Structures Are Used

We build for clients who need more space on the same plot. Common uses:

  • Multi storey industrial buildings — factories with production on upper floors, pharma plants, electronics units, engineering workshops and food processing units.
  • Multi level warehouses — storage with mezzanine floors and rack support.
  • Commercial buildings — offices, IT spaces, showrooms and shopping complexes.
  • Hospitals and clinics — fast delivery matters when you need beds ready soon.
  • Schools, colleges and hostels — classroom blocks and residential wings.
  • Car parking and logistics buildings — open steel frames with strong slabs.
  • Factory admin blocks — an office building attached to your plant.

Please note: Every project is designed around your plot size, floor loads and future expansion plans. Share your layout and we will recommend the most efficient steel structure for your use case.

WHAT WE DELIVER

Our Multi Storey Steel Building Construction Services

We work as a multi storey steel building contractor and manufacturer in one company. That means fewer handovers, and one team that is responsible from the first drawing to handover.

01

Design and engineering

We study your layout, floor loads, column grid and building height. Our engineers prepare the design using standard structural software and 3D models, so you can see the building before we make it.

02

Steel fabrication

Columns, beams, bracing and connection plates are cut, welded, surface-cleaned and painted in a controlled setup. Every piece is marked so it fits correctly on site.

03

Floor systems

We offer composite deck slabs, precast slabs, and steel mezzanine floors. The right one depends on your span, load and budget.

04

Roof and wall cladding

Options include PUF or rockwool sandwich panels, profiled metal sheets, brick or block walls, glass and ACP facades.

05

Stairs, lifts and services

We plan staircases, lift cores, fire exits and space for electrical, plumbing and HVAC lines from the start, so nothing has to be cut or patched later.

06

Erection and handover

Our site team erects the frame, checks levels and bolts, and hands over the building with drawings and documents.

SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Safety and Standards We Design To

Safety is the first question buyers ask, and it is the right one. Our multi storey steel building construction follows Indian standards, including:

CODE COMPLIANCE

Indian Standards
We Follow

  • IS 800:2007 for design of steel structures
  • IS 875 (Parts 1 to 5) for dead, live, wind and other loads
  • IS 1893 (Part 1):2016 for earthquake-resistant design
  • IS 2062 for structural steel grades
  • National Building Code (NBC) 2016, including Part 4 for fire and life safety
01

Earthquake safety

Steel is light and can bend without breaking suddenly, which helps it perform well in earthquakes. Delhi NCR falls in Seismic Zone IV, so we design frames with proper bracing or rigid connections for this zone. Other cities are designed for their own zone.

02

Wind

We calculate wind load using the building height, shape and your city's wind speed, not a general number.

03

Fire safety

Steel loses strength at very high temperatures, so it needs protection. We use fire-rated paint (intumescent coating), fire boards or encasement, depending on the fire rating your building needs. We also plan exits, staircases and fire access as per NBC.

04

Corrosion

Steel receives surface preparation and a multi-coat paint system. For coastal or chemical areas we can use galvanising or a heavier coating.

Important: The final design must be checked by a qualified structural engineer and approved by your local authority. We prepare the drawings and documents to support your approval.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Quality Checks During Fabrication and Erection

Good design can be spoiled by poor workmanship, so we check quality at each stage:

1

Material check: steel is checked against grade and test certificates before cutting

2

Cutting and welding: dimensions are verified, and welds are inspected visually and, where required, by testing

3

Painting: surface preparation and coating thickness are checked

4

Bolts and connections: correct bolt grade and tightening are verified at site

5

Alignment: columns are checked for plumb and levels are checked on every floor before the next stage starts

Every check is documented and shared with the client. No stage moves forward until the previous one passes inspection — so what leaves our factory fits perfectly at your site.

OUR PROCESS

How We Work: From First Call to Handover

A clear, six-step process that saves time at every stage. Here is exactly what happens from your first call to the day we hand over the keys.

01

We listen and study your need

You share your plot size, number of floors, building use, and any known loads. If you only have a rough idea, that is fine. Our engineer will ask the right questions.

02

General arrangement and budget

You receive a simple layout showing floors, column grid and stair or lift positions, with a clear cost. This is usually ready within a few days.

03

Detailed design and approvals

Once you approve, we prepare structural design and drawings. We support you with the documents needed by your architect or local authority.

04

Foundation and fabrication run together

While your civil foundation work goes on at site, we make the steel in our factory. This overlap is where most of the time is saved.

05

Erection at site

Our team lifts and bolts the frame, installs the floors, and fixes the roof and wall cladding.

06

Final checks and handover

We inspect the work, fix any snag items, and hand over the building with as-built drawings and documents.

Every project follows this same path — designed for speed, transparency and a smooth handover.

PRICING FACTORS

What Decides the Cost of Your Building?

1

Number of floors and total built-up area

More floors and larger built-up area directly increase the total steel, slab and finishing quantity.

2

Floor loading

A light office floor costs less than a factory floor built to hold heavy machines.

3

Column spacing

Wider spans need heavier beams and stronger connections to safely carry the load.

4

Floor system

Composite deck, precast slabs or steel mezzanine — each has a different cost profile.

5

Walls, roof and facade

Insulated panels and glass cost more than simple metal sheets.

6

Fire rating and coatings

Higher fire ratings require intumescent paint, fire boards or encasement systems.

7

Seismic zone, wind speed and soil condition

Your location's seismic zone and wind speed decide how much bracing and foundation steel you need.

8

Site location and transport distance

Farther sites and difficult access add to logistics and erection costs.

9

Lifts, stairs and MEP services

Lift cores, staircases, plumbing, electrical and HVAC planning affect the overall budget.
